InterFaith Hunger Project

The IFHP is a grocery store, located downstairs in the Guyon Saunders Resource Center. IFHP serves over 500 low income, elderly and disabled clients each month--including home bound individuals, who have their groceries delivered to them. Food is donated from local businesses and individuals, and we also purchase items at a deep discount from the High Plains Food Bank.   Read more »

Emergency Youth Shelter

Our shelter is located in Northwest Amarillo (off-site from our downtown offices) and is a 16-bed emergency placement for at-risk, abused, and neglected youth between the ages of 5-17. The maximum length of stay is 90 days. During the time a youth is placed with the shelter, our staff’s ultimate goal is to ensure the youth are in a safe, secure environment until they are placed in a long-term or permanent residence.

Eye Care

Our adult eye care division works in conjunction with local optometrists and ophthalmologists to provide eye exams and glasses for adults who have no ability to pay for these services. Family Care Foundation provides money for us to buy eyeglasses, and local eye care professionals provide all of their services for free to clients who qualify.   Read more »

Affordable Housing

CFS is a CHDO (Community Housing Development Organization), designated by the City of Amarillo. We are then able to use HOME funding to acquire and rehab properties, which we rent to low-income clients. In the last five years, we have rehabbed a 40-unit apartment complex and a 13-unit complex, which have one bedroom, efficiency and 2-bedroom units. The apartments are “all bills paid” and ten percent are handicap-accessible.   Read more »

Refugee Resettlement

CFS’s refugee resettlement division has a diverse staff, dedicated to meeting the needs of newly-arriving and secondarily migrating refugees in Amarillo and Dumas. Through a cooperative agreement with the State Department and managed by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, CFS resettles refugees from all around the world.   Read more »

Amarillo Interpreting Service

AIS began in 2000. It grew out of refugee resettlement program and was created to meet interpreting needs throughout the Amarillo area. The division employs a diverse, trained staff that speaks 30 different languages. Each interpreter is guided by a code of ethics, and interpretation is provided in person, over the phone, and (for document interpretation) long-distance.   Read more »

Citizenship/Immigration

CFS’s immigration and citizenship division is the only Board of Immigration Appeals-accredited service agency in the panhandle. We have offices in Dumas and Hereford as well as Amarillo. Services provided include family reunification, citizenship, lawful permanent residence, adjustment of status, asylum, and citizenship services for refugees and immigrants.   Read more »
